A commercial Conure mix is available on the market which cannot be faulted I used this for over a year with excellent results. However I now buy and mix my own once a month purely from a cost point of view.

SEED is about 60% of the diet I feed my Conures. I feed approximately 1 measure Peanuts, Hemp,Oat meal,Paddy Rice,Buckwheat, Safflower, Small Pine Nuts, Groats, and a half measure of Niger,Small Sunflower,& White Sunflower.

PELLETS I have been feeding Pellets as an addition to seed.

FRUIT & VEG is fed on a daily basis, favourites included sweet red apple, orange, grapes, sweetcorn, carrot, broccoli, curly kale, celery, spinach,& chickweed

MILLETS/CANARY is fed in a separate bowl I feed a mixed millet mix one month and a good budgie mix the next.

MILLET SPRAYS are fed at least once a week 2 or 3 per pair. Everyday when they have babies or fledged babies . Soaked millet sprays are also relished by all Conures, I feed these ad lib time permitting.Soaked sprays are also very beneficial when breeding and are relished by all my birds..

WATER is changed daily it can be a problem as they have a habit of bathing in it the moment you change it, however the pleasure and condition they get from bathing outweighs the extra work.

EGG FOOD is fed once a week when not breeding, and every day when breeding I favour Quiko above others Ive used.

CUTTLEFISH is always available and always should be.We may add Calcivet if birds are reluctant to eat cuttlefish....but this is very rare,

SOAKED/SPROUTED SEED is fed at least once a week to all birds and every day to pairs when breeding. I soak my main mix for 24hrs in a bucket and wash and strain it,and I leave it some were warm & dark until it sprouts, then I wash it again & again before its fed. When sprouted starches in the seed convert to glucose which is easily absorbed into the birds digestive system. When the seed first sprouts the vitamin & nutrient content increases the stored nutrients to make new plants. The protein levels in sprouted seed also increases dramatically as well.I use my Conure mix so when the babies are weaning they are weaned onto the same seed but dry. A word of warning though....discard any seed that smells or goes sour..these may be toxic.....avoid beans as some beans need to be boiled to be safe for birds.
